High Voltage Applications
The full bridge transformer is much like the half bridge, but it uses 4 transistors instead of two. It is more efficient than the half-bridge because there are always two transistors in the “ON” state at any given time which means the transformer can make use of the positive and negative sides of the DC supply.
The full bridge can also effectively handle twice the voltage of the half bridge because the additional transistors allow it to invert the polarity of the voltage. This type of transformer also has better power regulation than the half bridge.
They are a bit more costly and perhaps harder to use than the half bridge.
